MISSION AND CHARTER

The Golf Club of New England was the vision of three CEOs of large, publicly traded companies who believed that there was a need for a world-class golf club in New England. The gentlemen believed that many New England golf clubs had lost their ability to fulfill a golf member's need with a great round of golf.

To that end they put forth the following directives to found the golf purist's ideal club:

A challenging, enjoyable and championship golf course, which will be impeccably maintained.
A membership which will be limited in number, such that there will never be a need for a tee time
A member owned club, which will uphold a commitment to member service
A well-appointed clubhouse designed to complement and accentuate the golfing experience and encourage social interaction among members

THE COURSE

Challenging...

But Not Discouraging...

Golf Club of New England is designed to appeal to individuals who would enjoy playing an uncrowded, tournament-caliber course where there are no tee times, and partaking of the amenities of a distinctive but unpretentious clubhouse catering only to golfers.

The Palmer Course Design Company, which has developed or redesigned more than 250 fine courses worldwide, designed Golf Club of New England's stellar course, which is nearly 7,200 yards long. Situated on rolling woodlands near scenic Great Bay, the course is an imaginative blend of ample fairways and greens and natural waterways.

It will challenge but not discourage average players, while giving low-handicap or scratch golfers the chance to test their distance and accuracy in hitting from intimidating back tees to tight landing areas. There are no homes lining the fairways to detract from the beauty and serenity of the setting. True to its name, Golf Club of New England will be dedicated strictly to golf, at the convenience of the members.

To assure them they may play whenever they wish, very few member tournaments will be scheduled, and when there is a tournament, the course will still be available to members not participating in the event.

THE GROUNDS

The Land

Situated on more than 450 lush acres in Stratham and Greenland, New Hampshire, Golf Club of New England captures the unique beauty and natural splendor that make this part of the country so special. A significant portion of the property used to be the site of the Jewel Auction House & Farm, a popular business in the 1940s where area farmers could replenish their livestock. Later, the Hutton family purchased the property and turned it into a dairy farm that served the region for more than 50 years.

Our architects strived to preserve much of the surroundings when designing the course. With undisturbed fields lined with giant oak trees and tranquil, flowing streams, there are sections of the course that remain just as they were generations ago. You can almost envision one of the Hutton farmers passing through on horseback surveying his land as you prepare for your approach shot to the 5th green. And because of its New England setting, the course gives you three distinctly beautiful seasons of golf.

Golf Club of New England takes advantage of its surroundings, offering you an opportunity to experience one of the most beautiful and popular regions of the country. Spectacular beaches, historic villages and towns, outlet shopping and even the Lakes Region are all just a short drive away.
